SITC opens joint-venture in Vietnam
SITC Vietnam Co Ltd, a joint venture company established by SITC Shipping Asia Pte. Ltd from China and local Vietnamese firm Sea & Air Freight International (SAFI), has been officially launched.
To celebrate the official opening of the new JV, the partners held a banquet at the Vietnam Pearl River Hotel for about 100 esteemed guests, including Hu Suojin, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, leaders from Haiphong Customs, the Marine Bureau, pilot stations, border sanitation inspection, as well as other guests from the port, container yard, financial services sector and corporate customers. Mr. Yang Shaopeng, Chairman of SITC International Holdings, Mr. Hu Suojin, Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, and Mr. Tran Manh Ha, Chairman of SAFI each gave us a wonderful speech.
SITC Vietnam Co Ltd was established in Haiphong, Vietnam on May 8 and held a soft opening on May 30. SITC Vietnam is mainly engaged in the container shipping trade covering Vietnam, China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong and Taiwan among other countries and regions.
Parent SITC first entered the Vietnam shipping market in 2005, and over the past five years of development and growth, SITC's market share in Vietnam has steadily improved, culminating in the receipt of a Gold award for best shipping companies in south east Asia at the China Freight Industry Awards in 2008.
SITC Vietnam like its predecessor also offers a range of scheduled services operated by new and high-speed vessels. SITC Vietnam currently offers sailings four times a week covering the two ports of Haiphong and Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam, five ports on mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, three ports in Japan and four ports in South Korea.
SITC International Holdings Co Ltd is an integrated logistics group whose core focus is on international shipping and logistics, including ocean liner services, customs broker, shipping agency, ship broker, ship owner, shipping management and terminal services. At present, SITC Shipping and SITC Logistics are the two business units under SITC Intl Holdings.
SITC Shipping currently owns 14 containershps, and is operating nearly 40 full container vessels with container transportation volume in excess of 1.5 million TEU yearly. It is ranked third in China and 33th in the world in the category of container shipping.
SAFI established in 1992 is an integrated logistics group that focuses on providing sea freight, air freight, logistics, project cargo, line agency, ship broking and shipping agency, moving and trading services.
